Post-Operative & Rehabilitation Physiotherapy
At UprightCare we’ll happily assist you in your post-operative care. We are familiar with the treatment protocols prescribed by most Orthopaedic Surgeons – and if your surgeon requires any modifications from the “standard” approach, we’ll happily liaise with them to ensure we are progressing with you appropriately. We recommend that any surgery is followed up with an out-patient appointment 1-2 weeks after surgery, depending on the procedure done. Sometimes this will be sooner – to be directed by your surgeon.
How can we help?
At UprightCare we will work with you to develop a custom rehabilitation program to ensure you make the best possible recovery in the quickest time. We will get you back to what you want to do, whether that is your work, sport or day to day activities. Attending physiotherapy after orthopedic surgery is a vital component of the recovery process and can be the difference between returning to normal function and an unsuccessful surgery.
Our physiotherapists manage people with movement disorders as a result of injuries and diseases of the brain, spinal cord, and the broader neuromuscular system. We work with people across a broad range of issues, ranging from stroke rehabilitation to spinal cord damage from trauma or neurological diseases like Motor Neuron Disease. These conditions often manifest themselves as muscle weakness, poor balance, and coordination, uncontrolled muscle spasm and tremors, loss of function and decreased sensation.
How can we help?
Neurological physiotherapy treatment may include hands-on therapies, specific exercise prescription, and a home exercise program. The goal of neurological physiotherapy depends on the patient’s disease or injury and their signs and symptoms. We develop a tailored exercise program to either improve or maintain the patient’s current functional ability. At UprightCare we also have a large gym area that we use to carry out our neurological rehabilitation assessment and treatment.
